Other Helpful Information:

Clock hands are measured from the center of the hole to the outside tip.

If you are replacing clock hands on an existing clock then you will need to know the stem hole and the length of the minute clock hand.
If you are building a new clock there are no set rules to decide what size clock hands are needed. In general though, measure the diameter of your clock face and divide by 2. This will be close to the size you want for your minute hand. You can get a little smaller and it will still work fine.
To mount your clock hands add the hour hand onto your stem pointing to the 12, until you reach the stop with the thread. Then add the minute hand onto the stem, pointing it to the 12 also, pressing it onto the stem until it reaches the stop. Finally, if you are using a sweep second hand you will add it to the stem or screw it into the stem, depending on which style of second hand you are using.

You do not have to use the same style of clock hands as were previously on your clock if you do not want to. Try a different style if it pleases you.

Where should you place your clock? The real answer is anywhere you want to that makes it convenient to look at. You will want to take into consideration where your light sources are, whether artificial or natural, so that it isn't too dark or too light to be able to see your clock. If you still aren't comfortable making this decision then consider the height of those who will be using the clock and place it between eye and chest level. If you want the clock to be visible from all points in your room then consider placing it higher than the tallest obstruction in that room.
